Cos Cob Beauty Notes

Treatment forms, said in plain words

Treatment forms are written to be complete, not to be read. Pick one up at a clinic near Cos Cob and you may meet sentences like the three below.

Your result may not match the photos

A form may put it as "Results may vary and are not guaranteed." In plain words, the photos you were shown may come from someone else's skin. Ask what result the provider expects for yours. Write the answer down.

For dark spots and uneven tone, read the plain pages on hyperpigmentation, melasma and what can get rid of age spots ahead of that conversation.

There are steps before and after

A form may put it as "Patients must follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions as directed." In plain words, the treatment starts before the appointment and continues after it. Ask for both lists on paper.

For laser hair removal, a dermatology academy publishes preparation steps for laser hair removal. Read them twice. Ask for the same lists for microdermabrasion or dermabrasion.

Someone has to see your skin first

A form may put it as "Candidacy is determined at consultation." In plain words, nobody can say yes for your skin until they have looked at it. That holds for non-surgical skin tightening too.

The consultation is where that candidacy line gets filled in, so take your tightening question to one in person. See Beyond Beauty in Greenwich holds consultations of that kind.

Find one sentence on your own form that you cannot say back in your own words. Ask your provider to say it plainly, and check every detail with them.

Ask, write the answer down, and keep the paper.

  • "Results may vary" means your result may not match the photos.
  • "Candidacy is determined at consultation" means someone has to see your skin first.
  • Ask your provider to restate any sentence you cannot say back in your own words.
